Becoming an Imposter: Insights into the experience and antecedents of Imposter Phenomenon.

Imposter Phenomenon (commonly referred to as imposter syndrome) is characterised by feelings of self-doubt and an internalised fear of being exposed as incompetent or as a 'fraud' at work. This includes , and is not limited to, undermining one's own achievements and/or a persistent fear of failure.

 

This study aims to:

  • Shed light on the qualitative experience of imposter phenomenon

  • Examine the psychosocial factors that might contribute to it.

  • Contribute to research that conveys the importance of taking into account the psychological experiences one encounters at work.

 

This study is the first in a series that seeks to examine attitudes and perspectives towards workplace culture in Singapore. It is hoped that the series will prompt discussions about the impact of workplace culture on life and on individuals in Singapore.

  • Experienced imposter phenomenon at your workplace

  • Are over 21 years of age

  • Are based in Singapore,
